The symbols

Three signs. One sky.

Our pieces carry three sacred signs from the oldest writing in the world. Mesopotamian artisans placed divine symbols like these on seals, boundary stones and jewellery as marks of protection. We use them the same way: as emblems, not as sentences. Each design arranges the three signs in its own composition.

  • Sun

    Day, light and truth.

The sign of the sun and of the day it brings. On our pieces it is the house-like shape.

Wear it forClarity, truth and new beginnings.A reminder to walk in the light.

  • Star / God

The sign of the divine and of the sky.

In cuneiform, the word for “god” began as a picture of a star. On our pieces it is the eight-line star.

Wear it forFaith, guidance, something greater than yourself.A reminder that you’re never without direction.

  • Thirty

    The number of the moon.

The moon takes about thirty days to complete its cycle, so in Mesopotamia, thirty became the number of the moon god Sin. Scribes could write his name simply as “god + 30”. On our pieces, it’s the three stacked chevrons.

Wear it forPatience, cycles and inner calm.A reminder that every phase passes and returns.

Silver ring with a large eight-pointed Star of Ishtar and a set stone

At the centre of every piece: the Star of Ishtar

The eight-pointed star is Ishtar’s symbol: the planet Venus, the morning and evening star. It stands for love, courage, guidance and rebirth.

Wear it forLove, courage and rebirth.A reminder that you can rise again.

Together: sun, moon and star, the three great lights of the Mesopotamian sky, carried on every Nuvara piece.

A small fact: the earliest Sumerian writing ran in vertical columns, top to bottom.

A note from history

In Mesopotamia, people wore amulets with sacred signs as marks of protection and blessing. Today we wear them as symbols: a reminder, not a promise.
