How to layer necklaces without the tangle
19. Oktober 2026 · 3 Min. Lesezeit

Layering looks effortless when each chain has its own space. These three rules work for almost every neckline and every combination.
1. Leave about 5 cm between lengths
Chains that sit too close twist together. Start with a short chain at the collarbone (around 40–42 cm), add one just below it (45 cm) and finish lower on the chest (50 cm or more).
2. Go from fine to bold
Wear the finest chain highest and the heaviest pendant lowest. The eye reads the layers from top to bottom, and the weight keeps the lower chain from drifting up.
3. Choose one statement piece
One pendant does the talking, everything else supports it. A compass pendant pairs well with a slim bar or a single small star.
Mixing gold and silver tones is perfectly fine: keep one tone dominant and use the other as an accent. Browse our necklaces to start your stack.
